The Cluster of Research Excellence in Translational Research and Innovation in Infectious Diseases, Immunology, and Inflammation (TRI-IR CoRE) is dedicated to fostering capacity exchange essential for conducting translational research aimed at addressing significant public health challenges in Africa, with global implications.
Positioned at the intersection of infectious diseases, immunology and inflammation, Tri-IR CoRE addresses the underrepresentation of African populations in research pertaining to immunology, HIV cure and antimicrobial resistance. This lack of data is particularly concerning given the shifting disease epidemiology in Africa, characterized by a dual burden of rising non-communicable diseases alongside persistently high rates of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance.
