Over Tom Jacobs

Tom Jacobs obtained his master degree in Pharmacy from Utrecht University in 2018. He has a special interst in clinical pharmacology, access to medicines, child health and infectious diseases. After working for the Utrecht Centre for Affordable Biotherapeutics (UCAB) and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation, he start his PhD at Radboudumc in 2019.

The focus of his PhD is on clinical pharmacology of antiretroviral agents and medications for opportunistic infections in children. Throughout the course of this PhD, he is responsible for clinical pharmacokinetic research in large paediatric multicentre clinical trials in various African countries. Tom is involved in the following study groups:

·        BREATHER-Plus: Long-acting cabotegravir/rilpivirine and short-cycle dolutegravir treatment regimen in HIV-infected adolescents.

·        EMPIRICAL: Empirical tuberculosis and CMV treatment for HIV-infected infants (1-12 months old) with severe pneumonia.

·        Other studies regarding accessibility of paediatric formulations of HIV treatment in Africa and physiologically-based PK studies to support dose-finding studies for children.
