The eye is the window to the world for a patient and the window to the patient for the doctor, which for me made it the most attracting organ of the body. Within the eye, the retina as primary receptor of optical input and effects of light are most fascinating to look at, as are the opto-neural and oculo-cerebral couplings.
My main clinical interests are therefore focused on diseases of the retina, the optic nerve and visual function. I have special research interest in high-resolution and functional imaging of the retina, which can help clinicians in better understanding of retinal and neuroophthalmological diseases and therapeutic effects.
