Over Marcel Verbeek

Marcel Verbeek (Brielle, 1964) studeerde Scheikundige Technologie in Delft. Na anderhalf jaar biomedisch onderzoek bij TNO in Leiden, startte hij een promotieonderzoek bij de afdeling Pathologie van het Radboudumc. Hij was gastwetenschapper bij de Universiteit van California, Irvine CA, USA. Hij promoveerde cum laude op zijn proefschrift, getiteld ‘Inflammatory mechanisms and pericyte involvement in Alzheimer’s disease’. Na een aantal jaren als postdoc stapte hij in 1999 over naar de afdeling Neurologie.

Gedurende zijn loopbaan ontving Verbeek vele subsidies, waaronder Vidi, NIH en meermaals ZonMW, ook als consortiumleider.
