  • Cancer prevention: Developing, evaluating and implementing personalized interventions to prevent gynaecological cancers with maintaining quality of life;
  • Carcinogenesis: Understanding gynaecological cancer development and tumour behaviour with focus on the role of the female patient-environment (oestrogen-obesity-HPV), to develop personalized preventive and treatment methods;
  • Preservation of fertility and ovarian function: Developing, evaluating and implementing interventions to maintain fertility and ovarian function in young women;
  • Personalized care: Developing, evaluating and implementing interventions to improve personalized care and prevent late treatment effects, with a focus on profound psychosexual effects and quality of life in patients with gynaecological cancers.

Biological and molecular imaging in experimental radiotherapy

Jan Bussink's research group aims to 'reprogram' the metabolism of tumors, giving the immune system more 'grip' on tumor cells and making tumor cells more sensitive to radiotherapy.

Gynecologic oncology

Joanna de Hullu's research group develops, evaluates and implements personalized interventions to prevent gynaecological cancers and offers personalized care in patients with gynaecological cancer with focus on optimal quality of life (preservation of fertility and ovarian function).

Hereditary cancer

Nicoline Hoogerbrugge's research group conducts research on the genetic factors that lead to hereditary cancer predisposition.
