Our purpose
We address the need for structured longitudinal (daily practice) clinical monitoring in patient registries, coupled to molecular patient and disease characterization and the development and validation of faithful experimental disease models.
Goals
- Our interdisciplinary and cross-disease approach is aimed to improve treatment outcome of patients with chronic inflammatory diseases (CID) and nurturing curiosity-driven translational research lines for this important patient population.
- To improve early diagnosis, classification and treatment response of CID by improving current diagnostic criteria by combining with precise clinimetrics, (innovative) imaging and measurement of biologic factors, such as biomarkers or gene expression and personalized (home) monitoring systems.
- To determine sex differences and their impact on CID.
- To establish and implement appropriate use of expensive medication for patients with CID.
- To integrate biological samples/data from patients to identify key shared and distinct disease mechanisms.
- To create faithful and fit-for-purpose pre-clinical disease models of CID to understand disease mechanisms and screen for effective therapeutics.
- To determine best practices and research structures to successfully bring our research from bedside to bench and back.
