Our purpose

We aim to unravel the underlying mechanisms of tumor-immune attack and resistance in a wide variety of cancer types and contribute to better clinical outcomes of cancer patients treated with immunotherapy.

Research groups contributing to this research program

Computational immunology

Johannes Textor's research group studies the adaptive immune system, and its response to cancer, using computational tools such as simulations, machine learning algorithms, and artificial intelligence.

Experimental immunology

Annemiek van Spriel's research group studies the immune system at the cellular and molecular level. 

Genetic epidemiology

Sita Vermeulen's research group aims to understand underlying mechanisms of prognosis and treatment response in order to facilitate personalized medicine. The group mainly uses molecular epidemiological studies and has a focus on bladder cancer.
