About
We use clinical pharmacology to improve antiviral therapy globally. We focus mainly on HIV. Our main areas of interest are drug-drug interactions, pediatric pharmacology and therapeutic drug monitoring
Aims
-
We have learnt that understanding clinical pharmacological principles are key to optimize the outcome of antiviral therapy, for instance with antiretroviral therapy for HIV. For many agents, therapeutic ranges have been defined, and we have seen that optimized HIV treatment is achievable in a large majority of patients
-
We have also seen that several patient populations do not yet fully benefit from optimized HIV treatment, such as children, pregnant women, patients who have received bariatric surgery, etc. Studying these underserved patient populations helps in developing evidence-based recommendations for their HIV treatment.
-
Drug-drug interaction management is key in optimal management of persons living with HIV; we aim to translate our knowledge to other diseases areas.
