About
We investigate links between cardiovascular disease and dementia, with focus on the role of cerebral perfusion. We conduct physiological research and translate this to clinical trials. E.g. how treatment of hypertension in older people affects brain blood flow and cognition.
Aims
- Prevention of dementia using knowledge obtained from cerebrovascular physiology
- Develop optimal treatment strategies for hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases in older (frail) adults
- Address common misconceptions around blood pressure and brain blood flow in aging (clinical and research)
Internationally we are also known as
Claassen cerebral autoregulation and cerebral hemodynamics lab
