About
We use innovative ultrasound-based technology to examine the role of hemodynamic forces to improve our understanding of the working mechanisms of the heart and blood vessels. We also evaluate novel strategies to improve adherence and efficacy of exercise-based cardiac pre- and rehabilitation.
Aims
-
Understand the impact of hemodynamic stimuli in the development of cardiovascular disease, but also in mediating cardiovascular adaptations to exercise training.
-
Examine how we can explain the benefits of a physically active lifestyle, but also the detrimental effects of sedentary behavior, in the prevention of cardiovascular disease.
-
Develop innovative ultrasound-based technology to better understand the working of the heart and blood vessels.
-
Understand how and why short-term exercise leads to immediate protection of the heart, and how to apply this knowledge in clinical practice.
