The Radboudumc is one of the 26 Dutch HIV treatment centers. You will be treated by a team of specialized infectiologists and nurse specialists. Radboudumc has a number of research lines in which HIV plays a major role.
The studies originating from the Internal Medicine department analyze why HIV patients are more likely to be affected from non-infectious disorders and if new drug targets can be found for these disrorders. This research is being conducted in collaboration with other HIV centers and expertise groups. Read more
A second line of research focusses on the side effects of a number of commonly used anti-HIV drugs. This research is also being carried out in collaboration with researchers in Tanzania.
The Radboudumc Pharmacy has a laboratory where the concentrations of all anti-HIV drugs in blood can be measured. These measurements are used by the research group of Prof. dr. David Burger, among others, to optimize dosages of HIV drugs for children and pregnant women, to understand drug-drug interactions and drug side effects.
