About Marie-Charlotte Huysmans

The current focus in Professor Huysman's research is on prevention and treatment of caries and erosive wear. Her group conducts studies starting at a basic level, such as in vitro studies of wear progression and caries development, moving on to clinical studies using both healthy subjects and patients, all the way to practice based research projects looking at the performance of restorative treatments.
Huysman's career started in Nijmegen, where she studied dentistry and finished her PhD in 1992. In 1998 she was appointed as a full professor in Conservative Dentistry at the State University Groningen. In 2008 she returned to Nijmegen as professor of Cariology and Endodontology.
