I work as a clinical nephrologist with special interest in kidney transplantation. My research aims to improve the outcome of kidney transplantation. I am involved in experimental research on immunoregulation and have coordinated multiple clinical trials with immunosuppressive drugs. One of the research goals is to adjust the intensity and type of immunosuppressive treatment to the needs of the individual patient (personalised medicine). I am past president of the Dutch Transplantation Society and currently Council member of the European Society for Organ Transplantation and Board member of the DESCARTES working group of the European Dialysis and Transplant Association.Position(s)
