Centers of clinical expertise for rare diseases are acknowledged by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.In the Netherlands there are now about 350 expertise centers, usually in a University Medical Center (umc). The Radboudumc offers expertise care for patients with a rare disease, within 39 recognized expertise centers. Requesting expertise advice:

The patient's primary care practitioner can submit a request for an opinion to an Expertise Clinical Center for Rare Disorders (ECZA) at Radboudumc.
