The Radboudumc Centre of Excellence for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) for children, adolescents and adults started in 2001. Formal application for recognition as a centre of expertise was applied for and obtained from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport in 2021. It is a medium-sized CF centre and we provide multidisciplinary care for patients with CF of all ages.
We pay great attention to the medical aspects of CF, and the psychosocial aspects and consequences of the disease are also particularly important to us. Research is carried out into particular infections in CF, metabolism in CF and how drugs interact and break down in the body, and how we can improve and modernise CF care. We do this, for example, by looking at how we can measure lung function in the home setting and put it to good use to provide remote care. This will bring benefits to all involved. This can be done via the website of Luchtbrug CF (in Dutch).
