The Radboudumc Centre of Expertise for Subarachnoid Haemorrhage (SAB) treats patients with SAB, which often occurs acutely. You will then be taken immediately by ambulance to the Radboudumc Emergency Department (ED). The neurologist can use a CT scan to diagnose SAB. The aim is to have the cause of the haemorrhage treated by a vascular neurosurgeon as soon as possible (within 24 hours). We also assist you afterwards during your rehabilitation process.
If a non-bleeding aneurysm in your head has been diagnosed and less urgent care is required, you can also come to our centre of expertise.
We specialise in:
- acute care of patients with an SAB (including rapid readmission from other hospitals in the area)
- multidisciplinary specialist chain care
- individual counselling of you and your loved ones by a nursing specialist
- clinical patient-related and basic scientific research
The Centre of Expertise for Subarachnoid Haemorrhage is recognised by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
