About
the Radboudumc center of expertise
The Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) is part of Radboudumc and Amalia Children’s Hospital and one of the specialized treatment center for patients with hemophilia and other congenital hemostatic disorders in the Netherlands. Together with the Maxima Medical Center (Eindhoven, Veldhoven) and Maastricht UMC, Raboudumc’s HTC forms the overarching HTC NEM.
What does the HTC do?
The HTC counsels and treats adults and children with hemophilia and related hemostatic disorders.
Special consulting hours
The HTC has coagulation consultations in which you or your child has an appointment with an internist-hematologist or the pediatric hematologist and a hemophilia nurse or nursing specialist. We draw up a personal treatment plan for each patient. Based on the severity of the coagulation disorder, judged by the number of hemorrhages and the intensity of the treatment, we will determine how often you will be invited to attend the HTC consultations. Usually, this is once or twice a year.
Multidisciplinary team
In addition to the hemophilia physician, the nursing specialist and the hemophilia nurse, the HTC also includes specialists from other coagulation disorders expertise. Examples of these areas of expertise are orthopedics, physiotherapy, rehabilitation medicine and social work. Together we will, if necessary, ensure a broad approach to the treatment and counseling for you and/or your child. This counseling can be about medical matters, but also about your work, home situation, sports, and school. Your hemophilia practitioner or the nursing advisor will arrange an appointment with the specific care giver..
