Maasziekenhuis Pantein and Radboudumc have had an intensive and lasting cooperation for many years. This is now visible in all major specialties of Maasziekenhuis Pantein. The cooperation between an academic hospital and a general hospital shows that concrete interpretation is given to The Right Care in the Right Place, or: close by if possible and far away if necessary. Examples of specialties where intensive cooperation took place are pain treatment at the pain clinic in Boxmeer, urology, hematology, ENT, pathology, and medical microbiology.
The cooperation makes it smooth and easy to refer patients back and forth, sometimes with the doctor "traveling" with the patient. This has certainly helped to speed up patient treatment options, especially given the limited and scarce capacity (partly due to COVID).
We also share knowledge and expertise from Radboudumc by, for example, deploying Radboudumc healthcare professionals to Maasziekenhuis Pantein, conducting joint multidisciplinary consultations, and sharing protocols. New developments in 2022 included support for the temporary filling of the radiology department at Maasziekenhuis Pantein, substantial growth in the number of patients discussed jointly in the MDOs, and agreements on further cooperation between Maasziekenhuis Pantein, Sint Maartenskliniek, and Radboudumc in the field of pediatric orthopaedics.
