Over Anna Marneth

Anna acquired her Bsc. Life Science and Technology (2009) and Msc. Biomedical Sciences (2011) at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. During her Msc. research internships at the Experimental Hematology department of the University Medical Center Groningen, the Netherlands, and Department of Medicine at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Australia, she became fascinated with the development of blood cells and blood cancers. During her PhD (2012-2017) at the Laboratory of Hematology, Radboudumc, she led research projects on the identification of inherited mutations in transcription factors (GFI1B, RUNX1, GATA1) and corresponding molecular, cellular, and clinical features in bleeding disorders. She has also uncovered molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis and vulnerabilities in myeloid malignancies characterized by mutations in transcription factors and epigenetic modifiers. Anna then performed her post-doctoral studies (2017-2022) in the Division of Hematology of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH)-Harvard Medical School, USA. Her post-doctoral work focused on the pathogenesis of and novel therapeutic approaches for the chronic blood cancer myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). One of her post-doc projects identified the N-glycan biosynthesis pathway as a potential therapeutic target in MPN. Her research program at the Radboudumc (2022 - current) revolves around glycosylation in normal and malignant blood cell development.
