About Ronald Pennings

Professor Ronald Pennings (MD, PhD) is ear surgeon and researcher in etiology, rehabilitation and (genetic) therapy of sensorineural hearing loss, with >125 peer-reviewed publications. Ronald is head of the ENT department of the Radboud university medical center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He is clinical head of Hearing & Genes, the expertise-center for diagnostic and therapeutic approaches of (genetic) hearing loss at the Radboudumc in Nijmegen, the Netherlands and visiting professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium. He has >15 years of clinical experience in tertiary otologic care and has performed more than 600 Cochlear Implant surgeries. Professor Ronald Pennings is co-founder and chair of DOOFNL, a Dutch consortium that aims to improve (otogenetic) diagnostics of hearing loss patients and to perform collaborative research. He also was one of the executive board members of ESPCI2023 in Rotterdam.
