During the Goodbye and Hello event the last RIHS Award ceremony took place. In front of an audience of more than 200 colleagues, RIHS awardees accepted their awards for the best PhD thesis, the research product with the highest impact on society, the best peer-reviewed publication, research that most actively involves patients and the Supervisor of the year 2022.

We proudly present the winners:

1. The RIHS PhD Award for the PhD candidate who delivered the best thesis in 2022

The nominated theses were judged by the jury, consisting of Marlies Hulscher, Frank Nijsen and Aura Timen.

2. The RIHS Societal Impact Award for the RIHS research product with the highest impact on society in 2022

The nominated products were judged by the jury, consisting of Martin Boeree, Alfons den Broeder and Marieke Zegers.

3. The RIHS Science Award for the best peer-reviewed publication in 2022

The winner of the RIHS Science Award 2022 is the Nature Medicine publication by ​Wouter Bulten and colleagues entitled ‘Artificial intelligence for diagnosis and Gleason grading of prostate cancer: the PANDA challenge’.

4. The RIHS Patient Involvement Award for the researcher /research team that actively involves patients in their research 2022

The nominations were reviewed by the jury, consisting of Peter de Goede (Radboudumc Patient Advisory Board), Ineke Runneboom (Patient Advisory Board Women’s cancers) and Joanne de Hullu.

Nominated:

  • Behavioral diabetes research group - Giesje Nefs, Maaike Horsselenberg, Mandy Jansen, Minou van Os, Anne Jacobs

The winners of the RIHS Patient Involvement Award 2022 is the Behavioral diabetes research group lead by Giesje Nefs.

5. RIHS Supervisor of the year 2022

All nominations were reviewed by last year’s winners of the Supervisor of the year award: Jenneken Naaldenberg and Philip de Reuver. Two supervisors were awarded, one clinician and one non-clinician.

The two winners of the RIHS Supervisor of the year award 2022 are Robert Takes and Teun Bousema.

The award winners will receive €750.
