Lia Fluit has been appointed Professor of innovative and person-centred learning and working in healthcare at Radboud University/Radboud university medical center from 1 April 2020.

Lia Fluit is a professor at the Radboud university medical center Health Academy (RHA). In her research and education, she focuses on creating stimulating, powerful and safe learning environments to provide professionals with the environment where they can provide innovative, personal care and where starting professionals can be appropriately trained. “We want to train healthcare professionals who continue to learn their entire working lives to provide person-centred and innovative care and teach them to be willing and able to take control. Research provides us with insights into how we can achieve this and what helps or hinders it.”
 
Lia Fluit (Nijmegen, 1956) studied Medicine and Pedagogical Sciences at Radboud University. In 2013, she obtained her PhD on research into the quality of the clinical supervisors in medical follow-up courses.
She worked as a physician, and later as an educational specialist and researcher at the Radboud university medical center. She leads the RHA Research on Learning and Education team and supervises many PhD students, both nationally and internationally. She teaches courses on research methodology, as well as classes and workshops on learning and education in clinical practice. Since 1 January of this year, she has been a driving force for research in education, working part-time at the Radboud University Teaching and Learning Centre.
Lia Fluit is the chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Netherlands Association for Medical Education (NVMO), and she is an educational consultant at the medical faculty of Jonkoping, Sweden.
