The research team from the Department of Dentistry is investigating the management of tooth wear, related risk factors and treatment strategies for prevention and, if necessary, restorative treatment. The team consists of Bas Loomans, Stanimira Kalaykova, Niek Opdam, Marie Charlotte Huysmans and Hilde Bronkhorst (Dentistry student in the last 6th year and also the intended PhD student). The research is conducted within the theme of Reconstructive and regenerative medicine.
With the data from this new research project, the team ultimately wants to be able to better inform the patient about their tooth wear and be able to take better specific individual preventive measures.
The research proposal 'Bruxism and tooth wear: a destructive combination?' of Bas Loomans and Stanimira Kalaykova has received a research grant of € 100k on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the ‘Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Tandheelkunde (NTvT)’.
