Alejandra Ruiz-Zapata and John Heesakkers, theme Reconstructive and regenerative Medicine, together with other members from the European COST Action BM1209, assessed the current knowledge and a scientific approach to the biomechanical properties of the pelvic floor tissues in a recent publication in European Urology Supplements.
This publication highlights the role of tissue biomechanics in pelvic floor disorders, the most common benign urogynaecological diseases which include pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.Alejandra Ruiz-Zapata
