As of 1 July 2017, Werner Koopman from the Dept. of Biochemistry. theme Mitochondrial diseases is appointed as Editor of the International Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (IJBCB) of Elsevier.

He will edit a special section of the journal focusing on organelles. Topics of interest for IJBCB include, but are not limited to: mechanistic studies of cells, cell organelles, subcellular molecular pathways and metabolism, novel insights into disease pathogenesis, nanotechnology with implication to biological and medical processes, genomics and bioinformatics.

Grant to study mitochondrial morphofunction in Parkinson’s disease

14 March 2019 Werner Koopman, theme Mitochondrial diseases, received 400,000 euro as a member of the PD-MitoQUANT consortium. The latter is an EU-funded Innovative Medicines Initiative research project that will improve our understanding of Parkinson’s so that better treatments can be developed in the future. read more
