Professor of Developmental Neuroscience Rogier Kievit is one of ten new members of The Young Academy, part of the KNAW. The ten researchers will be officially installed as members of The Young Academy on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. During their five-year membership, they will make a case for projects in the areas of science policy, interdisciplinarity, internationalization and the relationship between science and society.
How do cognitive abilities differ between people? How do they change over the life course? What explains these differences and changes and how do they affect each other? This is Rogier Kievit's area of research. He seeks answers by applying multivariate statistical methods to large data sets. Kievit is currently leading research on rapid changes between good and poor cognitive performance in children. At De Jonge Akademie, he wants to advocate for climate initiatives in academia. He also wants to contribute to making academics who come from all over the world to work in Dutch science feel welcome.
