Professor Jan W.A. Smit appointed as dean/vice chair of Radboud university medical center as of 1 August 2019

Jan Smit (1962) has been associated with the Radboud university medical center since 2012, as lecturer and head of the department of Internal Medicine. Before that, he worked at the LUMC, where he was lecturer of Internal Medicine and Clinical Endocrinology. Jan Smit was trained as a doctor in Utrecht and conducted research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 2002 and 2003. He has already fulfilled the role of interim dean at Radboud university medical center in 2017 and 2019.
As of 1 August 2019, the Executive Board of the Radboud university medical center consists of: Prof. Paul Smits, chair, Prof. Jan Smit, dean/vice chair, Dr. Bertine Lahuis, and Mr. Cees Buren MBA RC.

The Board of the Stichting Katholieke Universiteit has appointed Professor Jan Smit as vice chair of the Executive Board per 1 August 2019. At the same time, the Executive Board of Radboud University has appointed Jan Smit as dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. Within the Executive Board of Radboud university medical center, Jan Smit will be specifically tasked with the portfolio of education and research. Jan Smit succeeds Paul Smits, who was appointed chair of the Executive Board in March.
