Agenda Seminar AI-enabled design of antigens and self-assembling nanoparticle vaccines

4 March 2025

New AI-based tools for protein design are revolutionizing the field. Dr. King will discuss how his group is applying these methods to design stabilized antigens from a variety of pathogens. He will also describe his group's work designing novel self-assembling proteins that can serve as scaffolds for multivalent antigen display. These designed nanoparticle vaccines improve the magnitude, breadth, and durability of vaccine-elicited antibody responses by improving B cell activation and vaccine trafficking in vivo. Adapting this designed nanoparticle platform to enable them to be delivered as mRNA vaccines, as well as the use of AI design methods to tailor nanoparticle design to the display of specific antigens, will be discussed.
